Shapeshifter Body Redesign Review Part 1 - The Blurb!

In this part of my review, we take a look at the Shapeshifter Home-page, and discover a world of magic and secrets.....

I stumbled accidently upon the Shapeshifter program - I can't remember how anymore, but I do remember that I was immediately excited.

The first thing you get to see when you type in the url, or click a link, is the Shapeshifter home page. This home-page/sales page/advertorial blurb – call it what you want – is your introduction to the program, and tells you as much as it can to explain why Shapeshifter is unique, successful and THE answer to all your fat-loss and muscle-building dreams, without actually giving away any specific content of the program.

I've seen a lot of these “sales-pages” – maybe you have too – I know the structure and layout, and how they work to awaken curiosity and desire in the reader. Normally I can skip through these pages quickly and make a good evaluation before I let myself get pulled into the pschycological promotional pitch.
But as I said, the Shapeshifter page had me hooked right from the start – and in this part of my review I want to go through the page with you, and explain why it had such an immediate positive effect on me. (If you want to view the page yourself while reading this, you can access it here or via any of the other Shapeshifter links on this page).

To start with, it was just one line that first sparked my interest – one sentence that summed up the whole program and appealed to my personal adventurous spirit. I wasn't even consciously looking for a workout program, though improving my body was high on my list of desires for the near future. So what was this line?...It was the program's title and subtitle:

SHAPESHIFTER – REDESIGN YOUR BODY....(anywhere, any time).

Powerful words:    * Shapeshifter: tones of magical transformation...
*Redesign your body: not... “lose weight, get rid of fat, build muscle, get in shape, best diet and workout program” or any of those tired, worn-out, over-used terms... no, this said “redesign your body”... wow!

How's that for an idea? This puts your physical condition back in your own hands, like being a god who can design and form a body as if molding it from clay. Forget your genes, your habits, your history, your circumstances – you get to start anew, decide how you want to look, then build the body you want to wear.
This changes the whole process of getting in shape from a negative-laden chore of trying to rid yourself of all your physical burdens, into a positively-charged creative adventure towards a dream.

Was I naïve to fall for this one line? Who cares?!... give me the magic and the dream, and the means to transform this old sagging body of mine into a work of art, a thing of beauty and strength. I want to be a Shapeshifter!

So, I'm hooked and want to know more, and even before I get halfway down the page 2 more powerful ideas reel me in. The first paragraph says this: “How our zero-equipment Shapeshifter technology will completely redesign your body in just 6 short weeks”...

*Zero equipment – so no expensive training materials, no machines and no gym.

*6 weeks– I know it's possible to get in shape without a special program, if you train regularly and consistently over a long period of time, but that's never been a great incentive for me to start. But to get results in 6 weeks... hey! I could be looking great by Christmas... start 2012 with a new body... be toned up for the beach long before the summer!

So, hooked and reeled, forget everything else I was doing, get a coffee, sit down and read through to the end. I was already feeling that here was something that could change-my-life.

After the first paragraph there's a video to watch – Adam Steer and Ryan Murdoch,  the program's founders, on the mat doing some of the excersises. So this is what I could be doing. It looks a bit like breakdancing. Now I don't know about you, but in my opinion, breakdancers are among the fittest and strongest and most agile people on the planet... I don't want to breakdance, but I wouldn't mind having a body that is capable of carrying out those sort of feats. Yep! You don't need a lot of fancy training equipment... just a mat and your own bodyweight.....

Reading down through the rest of the “blurb”, I came across many points, remarks, suggestions and ideas that grabbed my attention and enlightened me further about what is specifically different and powerful about the Shapeshifter program. These “items” are listed below in the order that they appear on the sales-page...
    • Are you frustrated with the way you look... sick and tired of the same flabby body staring back at you in the mirror...
    • You need proven methods that actually change the shape of your body...
    • Most exercise and nutrition programs only focus on losing or gaining “weight”, you... lose fat and muscle together, or gain fat and muscle together... end result is the same soft physique... big in all the wrong places and small in all the worst places...
    • We focussed on...losing fat while simultaneously adding or toning muscle in just the right places...
    • A step-by-step plan to change your workouts, diet and lifestyle...
    • Get back in the best shape of your life without extreme dieting or training... quickly and permanently...
    • With bodyweight exercises...
    • 3 sins of conventional workout and diet programs... most workout programs...focus on one-dimensional “gimmick”...
    • The more you train while fully recovering between each session the faster you can redesign your body (frequency training)... take advantage of several different types of training: cardio, strength, metabolic, neuroboost, stack and regeneration...
    • Carb confusion...eat the right kinds of carbs at the right time...
    • The exact sequence of workouts, dietary advice and lifestyle refinements...
    • Your hormones will start working for you instead of against you...

At this point the salespage points out what's included in the program (what you get for your money), and they are:
  • Academy manual
  • Printable charts and timetables
  • Pre-program checklists
  • Printable journal
  • Exercise Video Library
  • Exercise manual
  • Nutrition manual
  • Supplement optimizer
  • Extra-curricular “modules”
All this is given a value of $579... but we only have to pay $94(more about this later on).

The blurb ends with a FAQ list. Here's some of the points that applied to me personally:

  • Shapeshifter is a complete workout diet and lifestyle program... all you have to do is open the page and follow the plan
  • Shapeshifter is not about extreme (nutritional) restriction... it's about making the right food choices... feed your muscle as much as you starve your fat
  • Workouts range from as little as 15-20 minutes/ up to 50 minutes a day
  • No danger of weightgain rebound
  • Shapeshifter... will benefit people of any age... older folks benefit by increasing range of motion and functional movement with mobility and flexibility exercises
  • Lose or gain weight no matter what weight you start with
  • If you aren't happy with the results... we'll refund your money... 60 day, 100%, money back guarantee.

And that's about it. They assure that this program is for “regular folks” who want to get in shape, but also have real lives, demanding jobs and friends and family they like to spend time with (I think I'm a regular folk type...).

As with all sales-pages, this is also supported with testimonials and photo's of successful results - and I didn't expect anything less.  The illustrations are on the playful side, and I think this is ultimately a good thing – it takes the seriousness away, gives you the idea that you're going to be playing a game turning yourself into a super-hero. I don't mind this... get in shape and have fun in the process.

At this point I knew I was pretty convinced. I knew I wanted to try this program (no risk right?), and use it to finally take action to do something about my body. But I still did some more research on the web before committing myself.

It is clear that Adam Steer and Ryan Murdoch are respected and trusted experts in their field. There are also a few extra videos to view which illustrate the selected exercises – always good to know what you're letting yourself into. What I saw I found to be intensive but dynamic... I like that! I'm not after a magic pill or a “no-effort” system that doesn't work – I'm not so naive that I don't expect to sweat. Take a look at one of these for yourself...

Here are the links for some other interesting examples:
  • Launchpad Cool-down
  • Diverse exercises
  • Bodyweight exercises

I also checked out other similar programs so I could make some comparisons, and what I found was that other programs appear:
  • Too intense: an enormous amount of info that you have to work through, and work out yourself
  • Too costly: Sometimes double what Shapeshifter costs
  • Too reliant on equipment: Meaning even more extra investment before you can start
  • Too geared towards excessive results: fine if you want to be Mr. (or Mrs.) Universe
  • More complicated to follow: more work than you need
  • Too hyped: where's the catch?
  • Too slow: I'm not going to start if it doesn't give me fast results I can believe in
  • Shapeshifter, in comparison, is more compact, understandable, simple to follow, created for all types of people and all personal goals. It's also affordable (some are really expensive). And the scientific theory behind the system is sound, and up-to-date with current training and nutritional beliefs and findings.

So all this is what you get to see for yourself if you visit the Shapeshifter site.

Remember...  every workout program will work for you if you stick with it, and there are enough examples on the internet of people of all shapes and sizes and ages who have made stunning body-transformations. I have no doubts that I can make the Shapeshifter program work for me, and I know I'll stick with it. I guess what you need is to decide which program you think you will stick with long enough to book the results you desire.

To help you make your own evaluation about Shapeshifter, let me just list what I think are the main benefits of this unique weightloss/muscle-building/body transformation program...

That's 20 beneficial factors in the Shapeshifter program, in my personal opinion. I made the committment and bought the program. How I did with it, I've logged every step of the way in my “Program Diary”.
